Mike Harding's Wednesday night show features the best folk, roots and acoustic music, interviews with the biggest names, previews of the hottest new releases, tour news and much more. Mike also broadcasts regular request shows, where all the tracks are selected by his listeners.

Mike's guests have included music legends Ry Cooder, Ramblin' Jack Elliott and Paddy Moloney; critically-acclaimed artists including Kate Rusby, Eliza Carthy, Kris Drever, Eddi Reader, Karine Polwart and Julie Fowlis; trailblazers like Seth Lakeman and Bellowhead, and rising stars like Bella Hardy and Jackie Oates. Mike has dedicated special shows to both Ralph McTell and folk icon Nic Jones, who gave Mike a rare interview.

Every year Mike's show launches a UK-wide search for the best young players of traditional music in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award, and hosts the Smooth Operations-produced BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, now in its tenth year.

Getting out to entertain the audience live is an important part of Mike's show, and there are regular outside broadcasts from across the UK. Every year Mike visits Glasgow to pay a visit to the hugely important Celtic Connections festival and joins forces with fellow BBC Radio 2 presenters at the BBC Radio 2 Cambridge Folk Festival to host a special programme.

Mike is one of Britain's best-loved and most diverse entertainers. For more information about his life and career - as musician, author (of poetry, humour, travel and children's books), photographer, broadcaster and TV presenter - visit his website.
